$5 Credit on Shell Gas Station Purchases $30+ at American Express

Through February 8th, American Express is offering cardholders a one-time $5 statement credit on purchases of $30 or more at the pump at any Shell station. Excludes non-pump purchases.

Log in to your American Express online account and scroll down to Amex Offers & Benefits. Click "Add to Card" to activate it. Some cardholders may not receive all offers (YMMV). Also, you generally need to be a cardholder in good standing for at least a few months to see these offers.

$25 credit on $100+ at Sony [Exp 2/3]
$25 credit on $200+ at Newegg [Exp 2/28]
$10 credit on $40+ at Orchard Supply Hardware [Exp 2/5]
$5 credit on $25+ at PetSmart [Exp 2/1]

I tried it. Even with a CRV, I was not able to fill-up for $30 as gas is only $2.00 per gallon in NJ. That's 15 gallons which the CRV does not hold.

Strangely enough, when I go to the ONE Shell station in this area, their prices make it so that I pay $30 for the same amount of gasoline that I'd pay $25 for, at any other gas station. Go figure!

I lived near a gas distribution center, all delivering truck (Shell, Mobile, etc..) get gas from 1 place. Cheaper gas stations get gas get the left over from delivering truck at discount rate and that how it pass on to you.
