If you get in on this, just hope for no identity theft from Bureau 121, the alleged group by North Korea behind the recent cyber attacks on Sony.

Ah, Sony. Never learning their lesson. I don't think bending over is the answer.

Bending over is always the answer in my opinion.

Really depends on the question, no?

Does the $500 spending need to be purchased from Sony to obtain the $200 reward or can the $500 be spent anywhere on anything (groceries for example)?

Karma's a *****....Sony gets hacked 9 years after delivering a consumer product that secretly installed rootkits on consumer's PCs.

According to the website...
In order to receive your S200 statement credit, you must make at least $500 in purchases within 90 days of account opening. The credit will appear on your monthly Sony Card statement within 8-12 weeks of your total $500 qualifying purchases. To be eligible for the statement credit, the account must be open and in good standing at the time the credit will be applied to the account. This statement credit will not count as a payment to your account. Please continue to make your minimum payments.

It's a credit card like any other. The only difference is that this one offers rewards/benefits that are geared towards Sony purchases. The $200 credit comes after $500 worth of purchases, regardless of where they are made (at least this was how it worked when they ran a deal like this in the past). Also, getting the x5 points is a bit of a pain. You get x1 from authorized Sony purchases, but you must submit a form to get the other x4 points. Personally, it turned out that I don't buy enough Sony products for me to ever really take advantage of these points anyway.

Which is exactly why they do this. To get you to buy more Sony products that you otherwise wouldn't buy.

I did this last year, it is awesome. You don't need to buy Sony products. I didn't buy a single Sony item. I used the card until I got up to $500. Put it away, 4 months later received $200 credit on the account. I used the card to take advantage of the credit and cancelled the card.

I did this last year too. the good thing was they gave us 200 credit on the statement so you don't have to redeem anything or play with PoInTs.

I so want to make a negative/funny comment about this, but I actually think that this might be a good deal.

Several other CC companies are offering very similar deals to get you signed-up. CHASE FREEDOM is one as is AMERICAN EXPRESS CASH. I have that application right in front of me now. I can't get the CHASE one since I already have their card...

I had a Sony Card that was received when I put a computer on it for a deal 5 Christmas's ago....Never used again....
Magically about a month ago.....Someone got a hold of that number and put over $3000 on it.....I know I wasn't hacked....I know my bank wasn't hacked.....This came from the SONY side.....I would so be staying away from SONY and there credit services until they "secure" there site/corporation......My opinion.....But they were definitely hacked and just had a movie cancelled about it also. I know it was from them is how I got hacked.....STAY AWAY!
